Drawing challenge / Smile

Besides ofcourse and always, the two sweeethearts who are
so very dear to me, it are often the little everyday things that
make me smile.
The first coffee in the morning, toys laying around the house ,
my green boots, the neighbours little lambs ,the first
magnolia blossom this week and my bed when i feel
tired.

And from far, from all over the world, you out there
posting all kinds of things that make me :) so often.

Our lovely host this week is Leena, take a look at her blog
and watch us smiling.

Green pancakes

A local early spring tradition since the 16th century: green pancakes (Diestse kruidkoeken).
The 'green' are tansy and dandelion leaves, mixed through a standard pancake batter.
They have a rather strong, 'green' taste, i like them with
some red currant jam, white or brown sugar.
The herbs freshly picked in my garden this morning....
now off to my afternoon (tea) coffee :)

Drawing challenge Garden

Attempt to picture one of many enjoyable  moments in my garden.

Imagine:
summerday evening
daylight fading
still pleasantly warm

bird singing to another bird
other bird answers
green deepens
shadows
low flapping bats

patches of white flowers
glowing in the growing dusk (that very image!!)

fragant clouds coming
        going
   returning

in the distance i hear my name called

ssssh just a few more minutes

35 drawers

This morning rummaging through drawers ...
 and getting surprised ...once more.
Spring (Printemps) was in there too .

The house on the left, on the last postcard
is a house where i lived in for about ten years.
The postcard is dated 1943.
Nowadays it's a restaurant.

I was there in the '80 and loved the place,
situated in the centre of town, it had a most lovely walled garden
in which grew the biggest magnolia tree i ever saw.
The memory of it made me plant a magnolia tree in my current garden.

Drawing challenge/ Connection

At the beginning of the week i picked up my sketchbook and this was one of the sketches i made.
Getting Ariane's  drawing challenge invitation i saw the connection.

Women connected by motherhood and the love for their children.

It all even got deeper meaning when ,as you might have heard, Belgium got into mourning
because of a terrible bus accident in which 28 people lost their life, among whom 22 children.
At such moments people feel united by their grief, connected by the love for that young life and the
desire to take good care of our children.
What came to my mind is that we should feel connected with the welbeing of all the children in the world,
because it is of great importance in how our future world will look like.

.

'Connection', such an interesting theme.
Infinitly many.

We are connected with all living creatures, the sun, the moon
water and earth
air and fire
with the past and the future

the unicorn?
the unicorn represents the human imagination,
because through times, it is that what makes our
world what it is and looks like today,
and so, for example, we are connected with the first human being
who invented something as simple a wheel, a book,a medicine etc. etc.

Wonderful theme dear Ariane!
Please take a look at her blog to find out about more connections.
