Contrasts and changes

Today i have been thinking about contrasts,
warm and cold, hard and soft, fixed and mobile....and how everything changes,
everything is in motion, all the time
and how it all fits together beautifully.

Then i made  pumpkin soup, the last pumpkin from the last harvest.

Little book

(you can click to enlarge if you like)

Sunshine

Sweet Citlalli of Color land gave me a sunshine award. (i'm not good in awards but....)
In response to the questions about favorites and passions i made a collage...and in response to the other questions; i don't twitter and i'm not on facebook,  i like giving AND receiving presents, i like coffee and plain water.

I would like to give a sunshine award to all the people who give me the joy of looking at wonderful things , the
pleasure of reading beautiful lines .
It's impossible to choose because there are so many of you out there.
Sunshine for all of you!

A mailbox is a lovely thing 2

Monica sent me one of her works titled  'Hope', haze  it's hanging
in my studio waiting for a proper frame.
Monica's work is expressive, full of emotion and touching, take a look
at this special lady's blog.
Hope is a wonderful thing to send to someone dear Monica, thanks again.

Another package full of surprises, a prize i won, was sent to me by Hazel.
Many of you will know her great blog ' The art room plant'.
She shows work of so many wonderful artists from all over the world
beside her own very clever,  playful work.
Thank  you  Hazel.

Among the beautiful contents, a small, handmade book with the message:
'This book is for playing in.'
In future posts i will show you some of my playing.

Drawing challenge / Umbrella -Parasol

She had to hold on to her red umbrella.

Once a man who had lived for many, many years in a gypsy cart ,
and than moved to a stone house, said to me , 'the thing i
miss the most is the song of the rain on the roof '.
'Umbrella' made me think of him.

Please take a look at more umbrella's and parasols over here:

Drawing challenge theme!

(from   Magritte  ideas and images  by Harry Torczyner)

(brocante find)

(George Barbier )

Yes ,you'll have guessed by now,
the theme is
UMBRELLA / PARASOL

(I've always liked it's shape)

We all have them , loose them,
throw them away after being caught by a heavy gust  or can't find them when needed.

The umbrella  descended from the parasol which
has been used since ancient times.(Greece, China, Egypt and Assyria)
From the Renaissance on the parasol became a real fashion accessory in the west
and even was a status symbol .

So that now poorly treated object has quite a history.

One for the rain .
One for the sun.

Which shall it be?
The choice is yours.

May i invite you to the drawing challenge of next weekend,
please leave me a comment if you want to join in.
You are all very welcome!

The house is quiet again, quiet and warm, good memories
of lovely visitors are still in the rooms and on my mind.

Moments come and go, joy, anxiety, relief... and happiness again,

time;  a ribbon of stories, unrolling,  intertwined ribbons.

And outside the snow fell and at once winter became very cold
 but of an enchanting beauty.

The garden has something unreal, as if it is some kind of
stage where anything unworldly can happen any moment
and you won't even be surprised.
